Yom Ha’Zikaron (Memorial Day)
The day commemorates all fallen Israeli soldiers and civilians killed in the wars and terrorist attacks. ALL businesses close down after dark, even kiosks and 24/7 convenient and grocery stores. So you should get food and whatever else you need beforehand. The next morning is a regular business day.
At 8PM and 11AM the next day, you’ll hear a loud siren go off for one minute. Here, too, everything will literally come to a stand still – people, cars, buses, and businesses. If the siren happens to catch you in a public place, you will be expected to do the same.
