Dining and Café

Dizengoff Square Area

The square blocks around Dizengoff Square accommodate dozens of coffee shops, from the intimate kind, the big and spacious kind to the café-restaurant kind. It seems that almost every street corner has a coffe machine with an establishment around it, overlooking the human and vehicular traffic. There are no gourmet spots here, but rather businesses that though not presumptuous are still classy. You can stop by for a quick espresso, sit with your laptop for hours or eat a well prepared meal. It’s good for either of these.

Repeatedly chosen as the best eastern restaurant in this part of the world, the Bayit Thailandi (Bugrashov-Ben Yehuda) has on menu every kind of Thai dish you can think of, and no one ever leaves disappointed.

Café Bugrashov (Bugrashov-Bnei Zion), though one of the bigger coffee places here, it still remains cozy thanks to the staff’s convivial service and the place’s all-white design. There are both indoor and outdoor areas, the latter perfect for sunny spring days. This is the perfect street to pass the time between sea dippings or on your way somewhere else.

Ha’Pizza (Bugrashov-Pinsker), just two blocks away from Café Bugrashov, is considered by many to be the very best pizza place in town. Most of its tables are spread out on the street in a cluster, and the place seems to be always full. On the other side of the street is Café Moulain (72 Bugrashov), a popular small café-bakery that prepares absolutely everything in-house, with all the facilities in a back room. The many kinds of breads are all yummy, as are the sandwiches and pastries. The coffee is on par with the rest of it.

Don’t forget the Dizengoff Center Food Fair (Thursday 12PM-8PM, Friday, 10AM-4PM), when hundreds of stalls are spread around the eastern part of the Center, offering varied cuisine, from Jewish to Druze to Indian to dishes from the Far East. It’s most definitely worth a visit, if not two. Come hungry.
