Dining and Café

Rothschild Blvd. and the surrounding streets

With the leafy trees, the architecture, the style, the trendy people and families walking or cycling-by, one would think that the restaurants and café’s on Rothschild and the surrounding streets wouldn’t need to work too hard to make good food or coffee, as the landscape in itself would be enough to attract the masses. But that’s not the case, and Rothschild and some of its surrounding streets are home to spectacular restaurants and superb cafés.
As it is with everything on Rothschild, the food here is high class and expensive. The stock market and brokerage houses employees go out every day at around noon to get a bite to eat, and for them money is no object. So you can find here a lot of quality options for lunch breaks or business meetings over steak, all within a walking distance.
Take Café Noir (43 Ahad Ha’Am) for example. The rich and famous come to eat in this bistro from all over the country. On warm days there’s a lot of sitting room on the street. Hotel Montefiore (36 Montefiore) is a boutique hotel that has one of the best restaurants in the city, armed with a French-Asian menu, unrivaled décor and setting, all of which comes with a hefty price tag. The Max Brenner branch (45 Rothschild) has a great selection of exquisite chocolate. Moses (35 Rothschild) is Tel Aviv’s most popular burger bar. You can walk down to the Cinematheque area, where on Ha’Arba’a Street there is a row of luxury restaurants making every kind of food imaginable.
As for cafés, there are chain branches along the boulevard, but the more interesting options are in the kiosks that are spread along the boulevard’s walking lane. Espresso Bar (corner of Rothschild and Herzl) is the city’s first kiosk, designed back in 1910. There are few seats, but there’s no better location for supreme people-watching. There are more kiosks east of Allenby.
